Terms & Conditions
The terms that apply when you book furniture assembly services with Fishers Flat Pack.
Last updated: 11 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply when you book furniture assembly services from Fishers Flat Pack.
Fishers Flat Pack is operated by Carl Fisher as a sole trader, based in Stotfold, Hertfordshire.
By confirming a booking, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. Bookings and Quotations
All bookings are subject to availability. A booking is confirmed once Fishers Flat Pack has agreed the work, price and appointment with you by email, telephone, SMS, WhatsApp or another agreed method.
Quotations are based on the information you provide, including the furniture type, quantity, product links, photographs and any relevant information about the property or assembly location.
Please provide accurate and complete information when requesting a quotation.
If the furniture, quantity, condition or work required differs materially from the information provided, Fishers Flat Pack may revise the price or scope of work. Any change will be explained and agreed with you before additional or materially different work is undertaken.
Fishers Flat Pack may decline work that falls outside the services offered or cannot reasonably or safely be undertaken.
2. Pricing and Minimum Booking
Prices will be confirmed before your booking. Fishers Flat Pack operates a £40 minimum booking for smaller jobs. Prices shown on the website are guide prices for straightforward furniture and may vary depending on the particular product, complexity and work required. Larger or more complex furniture, multiple-item jobs and business/office work may be individually quoted. Unless otherwise agreed, the confirmed price covers the assembly work described in your quotation or booking confirmation.
3. Payment
4. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Plans sometimes change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice where possible. Where less than 24 hours' notice is given, Fishers Flat Pack may charge up to the £40 minimum booking amount, taking the circumstances into account. A charge may also apply where Fishers Flat Pack attends the agreed address but cannot reasonably gain access or begin the work because of circumstances that should have been addressed by the customer beforehand. This policy does not affect any statutory cancellation rights that apply to your booking.
5. Consumer Cancellation Rights
If you are a consumer and book Fishers Flat Pack at a distance — for example by telephone, email, website enquiry or WhatsApp — you may have a statutory right to cancel the service contract within 14 days of the contract being made. If you ask Fishers Flat Pack to carry out work during this 14-day cancellation period, you will be asked to expressly request that the service begins before the cancellation period has ended. Where work has begun at your express request and you subsequently exercise a statutory right to cancel before the service is fully performed, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for services already supplied, where permitted by law. Where the service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following the necessary request and acknowledgement from you, your statutory cancellation right may end once the service has been completed. Nothing in these terms limits any cancellation rights you have under applicable consumer law.
6. Preparing for your Appointment
Customers are responsible for providing reasonable access to the property and a safe, reasonably clear working area suitable for assembling the furniture. Where reasonably possible, furniture packages should be placed in the room or location where the completed furniture is intended to remain before Fishers Flat Pack arrives. Moving heavy or bulky furniture, packages or completed items between rooms or floors is not included unless specifically agreed beforehand. If there is insufficient safe working space, Fishers Flat Pack may ask for the area to be cleared before work begins. Where the work cannot reasonably or safely proceed, the appointment may need to be rescheduled.
7. Children and Pets
For everyone's safety, customers are responsible for ensuring that children and pets are kept safely away from the immediate assembly area, tools, fixings, packaging and furniture components while work is taking place.
8. Access and Parking
Please make Fishers Flat Pack aware before the appointment of any access or parking restrictions that could materially affect the booking. This may include restricted parking, permits, loading restrictions, difficult property access or other relevant circumstances. Where a significant parking or access cost is necessary to complete the booking, this will be discussed with you where reasonably possible before the cost is incurred.
9. Missing, Damaged or Incorrect Parts
Fishers Flat Pack is not responsible for furniture supplied with missing, damaged, defective or incorrect components, or for manufacturing or retailer faults. If an issue is discovered during assembly, I will explain it to you and, where possible, advise what is required to continue or complete the work. If assembly cannot be completed because of missing, damaged, defective or incorrect components, Fishers Flat Pack may charge for the work reasonably undertaken up to that point, subject to the £40 minimum booking where applicable. If a further visit is required after replacement or missing components have been obtained, the price for the return visit will be agreed separately.
10. Product Condition and Pre-existing Damage
Customers are responsible for supplying furniture that is suitable for assembly. Fishers Flat Pack is not responsible for damage or defects that existed before work began, including manufacturing defects, damage occurring during delivery or storage, or previous assembly/dismantling damage. Where reasonably necessary, Fishers Flat Pack may photograph existing damage, defects or the condition of the furniture or immediate work area before or during assembly for the purpose of maintaining an accurate record. These photographs will not be used for marketing without appropriate permission.
11. Wall Securing and Furniture Damage
Some furniture manufacturers require or recommend that products such as wardrobes, bookcases, drawers or other furniture are secured to a wall to reduce the risk of tipping.
Wall securing is considered on a case-by-case basis and is not automatically included in a standard furniture assembly quotation. Where the furniture requires or recommends wall securing, this should be discussed as part of the booking wherever reasonably possible.
Whether Fishers Flat Pack can undertake the wall fixing will depend on factors including the furniture, manufacturer's instructions, wall construction, location and appropriate fixings.
If wall securing is not included or cannot safely be undertaken, you will be advised accordingly. Customers are responsible for ensuring that furniture is subsequently used in accordance with the manufacturer's safety and installation instructions. Fishers Flat Pack will not knowingly undertake a fixing or installation that I reasonably believe would be unsafe or inappropriate.
12. Safe and Appropriate Working
Fishers Flat Pack may refuse to start, pause or stop work where there is a genuine and reasonable concern that:
- the working environment is unsafe.
- the furniture appears damaged or defective.
- appropriate components or fixings are unavailable.
- the requested work materially differs from the agreed service.
- the work would conflict with relevant manufacturer instructions.
- continuing would present an unreasonable risk of injury or property damage.
Where possible, the issue will be explained to you and reasonable options for proceeding will be discussed.
13. Workmanship and Problems After Assembly
Fishers Flat Pack will provide its services with reasonable care and skill.
If you believe there is a problem with the assembly, please contact Fishers Flat Pack as soon as reasonably possible with details of the issue.
If the problem is found to result from Fishers Flat Pack's workmanship, I will take reasonable steps to put the assembly work right, where reasonably possible, without an additional labour charge.
This does not cover problems caused by matters outside Fishers Flat Pack's workmanship, including:
- manufacturing or product defects.
- missing or defective components.
- normal wear and tear.
- misuse or accidental damage.
- subsequent movement, dismantling or reassembly.
- alterations made by another person.
- failure to follow manufacturer care or safety instructions.
- damage arising after the work from circumstances outside Fishers Flat Pack's reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts your statutory consumer rights.
14. Damage and Liability
Reasonable care will be taken when working in your property and handling your furniture. Fishers Flat Pack is not responsible for pre-existing damage, manufacturing defects or loss or damage caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control. Customers should make Fishers Flat Pack aware of particularly delicate surfaces, concealed hazards or other relevant property conditions before work begins where these may not reasonably be apparent. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer law.
15. Packaging
Following assembly, packaging will be left reasonably tidy and consolidated where practical. Unless specifically agreed otherwise, removal, recycling and disposal of cardboard, polystyrene, plastic and other furniture packaging remain the customer's responsibility.
16. Photographs of Completed Work
Fishers Flat Pack may ask for permission to photograph completed work for use on its website, Google Business Profile, social-media accounts or other business marketing. Completed-work photographs will only be used for these purposes where appropriate permission has been obtained. You are under no obligation to agree. Further information about how personal information is handled can be found in the Fishers Flat Pack Privacy Policy. Make "Privacy Policy" an internal hyperlink to the existing Privacy Policy page.
17. Arrival Times and Delays
Fishers Flat Pack will make reasonable efforts to attend at the agreed appointment time. Furniture assembly times can occasionally vary and delays may also occur because of traffic or circumstances outside reasonable control. If I expect to be significantly delayed, I will make reasonable efforts to contact you as soon as practical.
18. Circumstances Outside Reasonable Control
Fishers Flat Pack will not be responsible for delay or failure to provide a service where this results from circumstances outside reasonable control. Where such circumstances materially affect an appointment, reasonable efforts will be made to contact you and arrange an appropriate alternative where possible.
19. Business Customers
Fishers Flat Pack also provides furniture assembly services to landlords and businesses. Where additional or different terms are required for larger commercial work — including deposits, payment arrangements, access requirements or scope of work — these will be agreed before the booking is confirmed.
20. Complaints and Resolving Problems
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service, please contact Fishers Flat Pack as soon as reasonably possible so that the issue can be considered and an appropriate solution sought.
